Hydrologic Modeler – Job ID: 268637

Location: Savannah

The Hydrologic Modeler will play a critical role in water resource projects, utilizing their expertise to model and analyze groundwater systems of Coastal Georgia. This role requires a strong background in hydrogeology, groundwater modeling, and a passion for addressing complex water-related challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement groundwater models to simulate, analyze, and predict aquifer behavior and future saltwater intrusion 
  • Conduct hydrogeologic assessments and characterize groundwater flow, transport properties, and saltwater intrusion 
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate groundwater modeling into larger environmental and engineering projects 
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on groundwater-related issues to clients and internal stakeholders 
  • Analyze and interpret modeling results to support decision-making and project recommendations 
  • Stay current with advancements in groundwater modeling technologies and methodologies 
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and proposals 
  • Prepare and present project findings to sponsors, regulatory agencies, and the public

Non-tenure Track Assistant Professor – Job ID: 269338

Location: Savannah

Reporting to the Institute for Water and Health Director, the successful candidate will contribute to the IWH’s mission of providing scientific and technological solutions to support a collective vision of safe water, a sustainable environment, and resilient communities. Successful applicants are expected to develop an independent and sustainable scholarly research program in one or multiple areas of (but not limited to): wastewater epidemiology; microbial source tracking; drinking water safety; climate change and coastal environmental health research; or developing sustainable water and wastewater treatment technologies. They are also expected to mentor student researchers and participate in outreach and training activities of IWH. Demonstrated experience in developing proposals for extramural funding, publishing in quality peer-reviewed journals, and presentations in relevant professional meetings is necessary. As a part of a multidisciplinary IWH team, the successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art IWH laboratory facilities, resources, and networks. The position will require occasional short-term travel for conducting research and outreach, meetings with stakeholders and other agencies regarding assigned projects, and includes public presentations of project deliverables. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track position with a 100% research appointment.

  • Conducting and managing ongoing and new research projects.
  • Publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts in professional journals.
  • Conveying study results and recommendations to scientific audiences, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
  • Developing training programs and seminars for water professionals.
