Association for American Universities (AAU) and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Urge Immediate Action to Ensure Public Access

Federal agencies are now beginning to implement requirements for papers produced with U.S. funding to be made available for public access. Similar to the open access policy for NIH-funded research, the White House requires that federal agencies spending over $100 million each year must develop plans to share research results on a public website. This requirement will flow down to recipient research institutions.

The policy memo was addressed to senior research officers at institutions that are members of AAU and APLU, but will likely be used at all institutions required to comply with federal public access policies.
