Georgia Southern Student Awarded Prestigious Grant
Georgia Southern Student, Martin Muinos, was recently awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program award to continue his research in the Mechanical Engineering department under the supervision of Dr. Valentin Soloiu.
During his two years as an undergraduate researcher, Martin published 4 peer reviewed papers and had over 10 posters and presentations, two of which he received merit recognition diplomas. He also won two undergraduate grants with his projects and was the lead undergraduate researcher in Dr. Soloiu’s lab.
After receiving a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Science at GS, Martin plans to pursue a PhD in the automotive field or become a researcher at one of the National Labs in U.S.
Dr. Soloiu describes Martin as a generous and compassionate person that understands the values of sharing and outreach to the communities within the state of Georgia.

Research Symposium 2015 – Winners Circle
The Georgia Southern University Research Symposium is a conference style showcase of student and faculty research across multiple disciplines. This event included speakers, and poster and presentation sessions from all academic disciplines.
2015 Jack N. Averitt Award
We want to congratulate the two individuals who received the 2015 Jack N. Averitt Award: Zachary Dietrich, for Excellence in Research, and Joshua Holloway, for Excellence in Instruction. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon graduate students within the Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies.
2015 Presentation and Poster Winner
Student poster and presentations were judged and awarded based on abstract/proposal submissions and the presentation of their work on the day of the Symposium. The following individuals were the presentation and poster winners:
