Advisory Council Member Tom Hughes Retires from NEA Inc.

Another change for our Advisory Council members.  Tom Hughes has retired from the CEO/President role of National Electronic Attachment the company he founded saying, Today I am sending out a press release which tells you that I am taking off my CEO hat and changing it for a Consultant hat.  I am very pleased at this moment with where this company is and where it is going.  I have had a great run for the last 23 years, have a great staff that I am leaving behind that are running wide open and increasing both revenue and EBITDA every month. There is a time in every company where it goes from being run by entrepreneurs to being run by professional managers.  I will continue to be on the board for several years and will not lack for things to do.”

National Electronic Attachment/Medical Electronic Attachment (NEA / MEA) today announced that its board of directors has named Melinda (Lindy) Benton to serve as the company’s chief executive officer.

Benton, formerly the Chief Operating Officer of The Sage Group, plc, has spent her career in a range of healthcare general management, operations, sales and marketing positions. Prior to Sage, Benton was with the Cerner Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation.

“We are excited to have Lindy join the NEA/MEA team,” said Bryce Youngren, Chairman of the Board of NEA/MEA. “Lindy’s track record in building successful organizations based on establishing great customer relationships and leveraging product value will be key in taking NEA and MEA to the next level,” added Youngren.

“Our search for a new leader has been focused and thorough,” said Youngren.  “Tom Hughes created a tremendous enterprise, and we needed a candidate who could continue the significant legacy Tom has created.”  Benton, when asked about her new position, said, “I am looking forward to the opportunity to increase Payor activity in the MEA side of the business and develop strategic partnerships with vendors and providers.”

Thomas (Tom) Hughes, current CEO /President and Founder of NEA and MEA, is retiring after 23 years in the healthcare industry and will remain on the board.
