Students Work to Restore the Habitat for Humanity ReStore

restore the ReStoreA group of ten Georgia Southern University students (pictured left) are promoting Bulloch County’s Habitat for Humanity ReStore as a part of Dr. Luke Pittaway’s Applied Small Business Management class. The Restore is currently located on 20 E Cherry Street in downtown Statesboro. The students’ goal is to raise $5,000 of physical donations for the ReStore and make 5,000 verifiable impressions on other students on campus.

The Bulloch County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a secondhand shop that sells a wide variety of goods from children’s toys to furniture and building materials. The ReStore is Habitat’s largest fundraiser and all proceeds go to build affordable homes for hard-working low-paid families. Habitat for Humanity has already built more than 36 homes in the Bulloch County area but is struggling in comparison to other Habitat organizations. The ReStore is open Wednesday through Saturday. The hours are Wednesday 1-4 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday 1-4 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. -3 p.m.

ReStore SignAs of their spring break, the students not only reached, but passed their $5,000 physical donation goal and reached almost 1,000 impressions. They are reaching out to building complexes, businesses, and individuals. All donations are tax deductible and support the local Habitat for Humanity efforts. You can help by donating your items or shopping at the ReStore before purchasing new items elsewhere. To help Dr. Pittaway’s students continue to restore the ReStore, let the ReStore know you are donating to support their cause. The donation will still be tax deductible for you and they will get class credit.
