Faculty Perspective on Collaborative Research

2014 NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide

The National Science Foundation has released the it’s new proposal and award guide for 2014.  Effective for proposals submitted on or after February 24, 2014, the updated Proposal and Award Policy and Procedures Guide (PAPP) offers guidance on the preparation and submission of proposals along with guidance on managing and administering grants and agreements with NSF. The new guide offers several significant changes including: changes to the conflict of interest disclosure process, unfunded collaborations, updates to the process for reporting program income, and many other clarifications.  Click here to see the new PAPP guide.  Click here to see a summary of significant changes. Please contact your grant coordinator for questions on how this effects your NSF proposal.

The National Science Foundation Launches a Research.gov Demo Site

The National Science Foundation has launched a demo site to provide PI’s, co-PIs and the sponsored projects office the opportunity to test features of the research.gov sit without actually submitting.  NSF is offering a webinar on January 22 at 2:30PM to provide further information on the demo site.  To join, simply click on one the following link prior to the webinar’s start date and enter the password research:

Effort Reports Coming In January

Research Accounting would like to thank the faculty and staff for the great response to Summer effort reporting. 95% of the mailed effort reports were collected within the allotted time frame. Effort reports for Fall 2013 will be going out soon; please return them to the Office of Research Accounting within thirty days so that we can reach 100%.

Effort Reporting is required by the Office of Management and Budget Circular A-21 for all sponsored activities, and is necessary in order to be able to receive and maintain eligibility for funding. Effort reports should be reviewed, signed, and returned as soon as possible. If there are questions, feel free to contact the office of Research Accounting.
Staffing Update for Research Accounting
Effective December 13, 2013, Valerie Cote, Accountant for Research Accounting left GS for a new position.  We wish her well in her new job.  In addition to the normal colleges served, Becky Rogers will be taking care of questions and concerns for faculty from COBA, CEIT, JPHCOPH and CLASS and Peyton Fuller will be taking care of all of COSM until Valerie’s replacement is hired.
