Who Submits a Proposal?

Research Services is responsible for submitting all proposals for grants and contracts for research and other scholarly activities to public agencies (federal, state, or local government); private, nonprofit research organizations; and industries.

It is responsible for ensuring compliance with all university, state, and federal regulations surrounding sponsored grants and contracts as per university policy RSSP-201, Proposal Processing and Submission.

Proposal Submission Process

Five (5) business days prior to the sponsor deadline (see policy RSSP-201), the PI submits a full package to the grant coordinator for final administrative review (e.g. pdf of final proposal files from sponsor submission site).  The grant coordinator will upload the file(s) to CloudExpress.  If you may have trouble meeting this deadline, please work with your grant coordinator to find a resolution.

Internal approvals should have already been secured.  If not, then materials will be routed to secure internal approval.  A late internal approval process may result in last minute revisions if budget issues or other problems arise.

After final administrative review and approval, all proposals are submitted by Research Services on behalf of the Georgia Southern University Research and Service Foundation. As the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR), the Executive Director must approve all proposals before they are submitted to external funding agencies.

It is the goal of Research Services to submit all proposal no later than noon on the submission deadline date.  You will be notified via email by your grant coordinator once a proposal has been submitted.  Please keep in mind that unforeseen delays can sometimes impact submission timing.
